EU: wettelijke nano-definitie 1–100 nm / 50%
De Europese Commissie beveelt in 2022 een geactualiseerde horizontale definitie van 'nanomaterial' aan: vaste deeltjes waarvan ≥50% (aantal) minstens één externe dimensie 1–100 nm heeft (plus specifieke staaf-/plaatvormen). Relevant voor markering/tagging-regulering, niet als bewijs van specifieke huidmarkering.
«“'Nanomaterial' means a natural, incidental or manufactured material consisting of solid particles that are present, either on their own or as identifiable constituent particles in aggregates or agglomerates, and where 50 % or more of these particles in the number-based size distribution fulfil at least one of the following conditions: (a) one or more external dimensions of the particle are in the size range 1 nm to 100 nm;”»

Eetbare PUF-markering op medicijn (Nature Comm.)
Peer-reviewed werk introduceert eetbare, digerebare physically unclonable functions die direct op medicijnen kunnen worden bevestigd voor on-dose authenticatie — fluorescentie-zijde-eiwit als 'digitale vingerafdruk', niet als 6G-bewijs.
«“Here, we report on-dose PUFs that can be directly attached onto the surface of medicines, be swallowed, and digested. Fluorescent proteins and silk proteins serve as edible photonic biomaterials and the photoluminescent properties provide parametric support of challenge-response pairs.”»

Eetbare, onmerkbare matrixcode in zijde-eiwit
ACS/PMC-paper beschrijft een eetbare, onmerkbare ('imperceptible') matrixcode van fotogene zijde-eiwitten voor authenticatie op dosisniveau van geneesmiddelen.
«“We introduce an edible, imperceptible, and scalable matrix code of information representation and data storage for pharmaceutical products”»

Covert transparante eiwitfilm als markering
Dezelfde edible-PUF-lijn beschrijft een bron van entropie als willekeurig verspreide fluorescente micropartikels in een 'covert thin transparent silk film' — onzichtbare/verborgen markering op productniveau.
«“The source of entropy is randomly distributed fluorescent silk microparticles seamlessly embedded in a covert thin transparent silk film.”»
